Finding the Right Career

The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short, but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark.

—Michelangelo

When you're in a job that you enjoy and you're good at, you're not just a better worker. You're a better spouse, a better parent, a better citizen.

—Rudy Karsan, CEO of Kenexa. Quoted in Fast Company Magazine, November 2008

And then the day came, when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

Finding the Right Career

Career counseling services that make
finding the right career a
joyful, creative and successful process

Does your career give your life greater meaning and purpose? Does it nurture and build your self-confidence?

Does your career fulfill, satisfy, and challenge you to grow? Positively impact your self-concept and self-worth?

If not, it is time to make a change.

How Career Livelihood Can Help You

Career counseling is having an experienced, knowledgeable, and sensitive partner to guide you through the process of finding your career livelihood.

Several principles guide our work together:

Career counseling enhances your career development process.

In a safe, encouraging environment, I listen to your needs, wants and dreams. As you express these to me, you will discover greater clarity and direction. To stimulate the process, I provide homework assignments, assessments, and many other tools that make your job of finding the right career easier.

Career development is best achieved through a curious, open-minded approach.

I encourage you to play, experiment, make mistakes and change directions at any time. I encourage you to embrace the process itself as its own livelihood. An imperfect world provides chance opportunities. You can learn how to create your own luck and capitalize on the unpredictability of life.

Careers are linked to your self-concept (inner self).

Who you are impacts what you do for your livelihood. What does this mean for our work together? Expect to increase your self-awareness. Expect to identify obstacles that block you from reaching your full potential. Expect to learn what your strengths are. Expect to grow as a person.

Careers are linked to your self-confidence (public self).

What is your public image? Do you know how to create and sustain relationships, both professionally and personally? When it comes time, do you know how to market your skills to employers and beat the competition? I teach you how to network, market your skills, and meet other people with similar professional interests as yours.
